Best Practices to Screen Buyers
Vet Reference Check
Ask potential adopters which vet they use. Call the clinic to confirm the adopter has an established history of routine care.
Red flag: Refusal to provide vet info or a lack of history with vet care.
Rehoming Fee
Always charge a modest rehoming fee ($25-$100) to deter flippers, abusers, and dog fighters who often seek free pets.
This fee helps screen for financial stability and commitment to the pet's needs.
Home Check
Personally deliver the pet to the adopter's home or conduct a video walkthrough to ensure it's safe and suitable.
Avoid parking lot meet-ups or letting someone "just pick up" the pet
As of October 1st, 2025 we have to shut down our intake. This means we cannot take and new dogs into our rescue.
Without foster homes, and financial resources to withstand the incoming dogs- we are not able to keep up.
You're welcome to fill out a surrender form and be put on a waitlist. However, dogs from the waitlist are chosen based on if they fit our mission. We try our best to keep up with the requests, but sometimes the large quantity becomes overwhelming. We appreciate your patience.
Everyday we have a large influx of rehome requests and without adequate foster homes, we cannot take your dog into our care. We do our best to balance shelter transfers, medical surrenders, and strays. Unfortunately, we do not have foster homes for dogs that need to be an only pet.
