At Unforgettable Underdogs, every adoption is more than paperwork — it’s the beginning of a lifelong friendship. Here’s how we help make that match:

APPLY

Because all of our dogs live in loving foster homes, the first step to meeting them is filling out an adoption application. This helps us get to know you, your home, and what kind of companion you’re looking for.

• An approved application is required before scheduling a meet-and-greet.

• We ask that current and past pets are spayed/neutered, up to date on rabies and distemper vaccines, and receive yearly wellness exams (exceptions can apply on a case to case basis).

• Once we receive your application, our team will be in touch within 3-5 business days to guide you to the next step.

DISCUSS & MEET

We’ll work with you to set up a meet-and-greet, or, if it feels right, begin a “foster-to-adopt” period. This gives you and your potential new best friend the chance to settle in together and see if it’s truly the perfect fit. (Usually about 2 weeks)

FOSTER-TO-ADOPT / ADOPTION

Once you know it’s meant to be — congratulations! At this stage, the adoption fee is collected in two payments, and you’ll head home with your dog’s folder, supplies (Leash/harness and Collar, Bag of food, Toys, Treats and any current medications), records, and any upcoming appointments. From that moment forward, you’re not just adopting a dog — you’re gaining a loyal friend, and joining a community that’s here to cheer you both on.

PAYMENT

Payment is collected in two separate transactions.

First payment in NON-REFUNDABLE and goes towards the total payment.
Second payment is collected at time of adoption signing.

Not every family finds the right dog the first time they apply. That doesn't mean the right dog isn't out there.

Our Shelter to Rescue program was created to bridge the gap between adopters and overcrowded shelters. When Unforgettable Underdogs doesn't have a dog that matches an approved adopter's lifestyle, experience, and preferences, we work directly with our shelter partners to help find the perfect fit.

Here's how it works:

• Families complete our adoption process and are approved through Unforgettable Underdogs.
• We take the time to learn what they're looking for in a companion.
• We collaborate with partner shelters to identify dogs that fit their home and lifestyle.
• The dog enters our Foster to Adopt program, allowing the family and dog to transition together with the support of our rescue.

This program creates more opportunities for dogs waiting in shelters while giving adopters the guidance and support of an experienced rescue.

Reduces overcrowding in local shelters.
Provides adopters with personalized matchmaking and ongoing support.
Strengthens partnerships between shelters and rescues.
